What an amazing relationship between teacher and student. Mike Tyson grew up in a rough neighbor hood. He was around people who was associated with drugs and criminal activities. He escaped that lifestyle when Cus D’amato accepted him as a student of boxing and moulded him in to a fighter. Cus supported and guided young Mike through the ups and downs in his boxing career and personal life. From rags to riches, Mike went on and became the youngest undisputed heavy weight champion of the world.

After the passing of Cus, Mike started to spiral downhill. Rich, unguided and mixing with the wrong crowd caused Mike to ruin his boxing career and inevitably his personal life.

Its every teachers dream to find that one successor who you are really proud of. In the video below, Cus talks about his philosophy of discovering talents and helping them to uncover it and building great individual character.

‘A boy comes to me with a spark of interest, I feed the spark and it becomes a flame. I feed the flame and it becomes a fire. I feed the fire and it becomes a roaring blaze.’
– Cus D’Amato
