Peckham branch is now operating from my private ga

Peckham branch is now operating from my private garage. What a journey it’s been for the Peckham branch. I’m so glad that Ilford branch is somewhat back to normal.

Here’s a little history on how I started the Peckham branch:

I opened the Peckham branch in 2013, teaching out of my sister’s SHED.

In 2014, The number of students increased and I hired a hall from ‘SOJOURNER TRUST COMMUNITY CENTRE’.

In 2019, The lease was renewed and the new owners changed the hall into a library. The hall was no longer suitable for our classes so we had to relocate.

By the end of 2019, we found a new home nearby ‘PENNACK TENANTS ASSOCIATION’.

In 2020, we went into lockdown. All classes were taught on ZOOM. The number of students dropped drastically. All halls in the Southwark borough are closed and all private halls are fully booked. 😩

This reminds me of a scene from Ip Man 2, When Ip Man had to relocate from the rooftop, to his apartment and then to the park.

If money was my goal to success then I would’ve thrown in the towel at this point. Why not? Government grants got you covered. But for me, making a difference in someone’s life has always been my goal and giving back to the community where I grew up has always been on my check list. So what’s next 2021!? Lol BRING IT ON!👊🏼

HIGHLIGHTS OF TEACHING ONLINE. What a year it’s been for THE WING CHUN SCHOOL!?

Starting with the first lockdown,
Then I caught the corona virus,
TWCS for the first time opened to teaching online,
Closed for summer,
Returning to class in September with new social distancing rules,
Peckham branch unable to open,
Ilford reopens,
One term later,
Peckham reopens at my garage,
back to lockdown,
Teaching on zoom for 4 weeks,
Lockdown eases and classes resume,
Classes close for Xmas,
Now lockdown again.

I’m grateful that I’ve shared this experience with my team and my students. This is the essence of being a martial artist. When obstacles are in your way, you ADAPT to the situation and carry on.

To all my students and followers on social media, use these few days to REFLECT on the goals that you’ve set to do in the beginning of this year.
Did you achieve them?
What did you learn?
Have you improved?...etc.

Now let’s RENEW our intentions and SET ourselves new goals for 2021.
